Today, it is a paved driving route (as far as Tortilla Flats). Apache Trail Auto Tour - The original Apache Trail was a stagecoach route. With everything there is to do, it is not hard to spend a day at Goldfield. Attractions – Just outside of AJ is Goldfield – a reconstructed ghost town featuring a tour of an underground gold mine, a live reptile display, a small railroad that you can ride around the perimeter of the town, a saloon, several stores and an ice cream shop. ![]() Hiking and ATVing – In the immediate and surrounding area are various hiking trails for all levels of hikers, along with many ATV trails that traverse through the desert and mountains. All of them are great for boating, fishing and other watersport activities. Watersports – Close to AJ are three manmade lakes - Canyon, Saguaro and Apache.
